Public Scoping Update Meetings February 26, 27 and 28, 2008
More than 330 people attended the three Tappan Zee Bridge/I-287 Environmental Review scoping update meetings held in Westchester, Orange, and Rockland counties on February 26, 27, and 28, 2008, respectively, to learn about the progress of the study.
These public meetings, part of an extensive environmental review process, were formal forums for sharing project-related information and obtaining public comments. Comments may also be received through March 31st, 2008 which will be included and responded in the Scoping Summary Report. Members of the project team were on hand to guide attendees through several displays, including maps of each of the six alternatives under consideration in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, as well as three new variations of the alternatives; display boards on the environmental analysis, review process, and schedule; and illustrations of possible configurations of the bridge rehabilitation and replacement alternatives. Two video presentations played continuously. One provided the background and explained the study current alternatives and options (video), and the other explained the revised environmental review process (video). In addition, a formal presentation was given twice at each event, and members of the public were given the choice of presenting their comments orally, in writing, or dictated to a stenographer.
